It’s based on huapango, a Mexican folk dance, but as the architects Peter Tao and Helen Lee noted, no one would know how to say it, much less spell it, so they opted for the “Hooked on Phonics” version. Owner/ operator John Gianoulis has taken his time in the design and the menu of this place to never make you call Wapango, a “MALL RESTUARANT”. This menu entails everything from Empanadas to Moqueca, so next time your at Chesterfield mall skip the Panda Express and try some Wapango. by the way, order THE WAPANGO. Make sure to bring your license to enjoy it. You wil need it.
